The European Commission has awarded the University Metropolitan Tirana the “Erasmus Charter for Higher Education” certificate – a unique certification for the higher education system in Albania.
The “Erasmus Charter for Higher Education” (ECHE) provides a general framework for the quality of European and international cooperation activities that a higher education institution can undertake under Erasmus+. Some of the factors considered during the preliminary assessment include the University’s commitment to reach underrepresented groups in mobility through inclusiveness strategies, ensuring green practices in organizing Erasmus+ activities, implementing digitalization through the European Student Card Initiative, and committing to increasing the civic engagement of mobile students.
The granting of the ECHE to UMT by the European Commission reinforces the standard of quality in adhering to the core principles of the Erasmus+ program in its main pillars such as student and staff exchanges, research, and development projects. As such, it is further confirmation that UMT’s participation in the Erasmus+ program is part of the University’s strategy for modernization and internationalization in line with European standards.
Internationalization is one of the key pillars of the Metropolitan University of Tirana, which, through standards and quality, offers inclusive opportunities at both national and international levels.
