Dr. Nikolla Nika – Head of Civil Engineering Department Faculty of Engineering and Architecture
Graduated in Civil Engineering at the University of Tirana, Dr. Nicholas Nika has a long experience in the field of industrial civil construction and in the academic world. He completed his studies in Electrical Engineering at the University of Tirana, while in 1997 he completed his specialization at the Polytechnic University of Athens on concrete and iron adhesion problems. Professor Nikola Nika has worked for a long time at the Polytechnic University of Tirana, where he has lectured and given seminars in the fields of material resistance, theoretical mechanics, resilience theory, theory of modeling of building structures, etc.He has done many studies in the field of structure optimization, experimentation, tensometry, photo elasticity and space structures, while working as a freelance engineer contributing his expertise to many important projects.
Prof. Asoc. Dr. Anna Yunitsyna – Head of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning Faculty of Engineering and Architecture
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anna Yunitsyna is an experienced academic and researcher with 14 years of teaching experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She has supervised 30 Master of Science theses. She has also served as an editor and co-author of two books addressing current challenges in Albanian architecture, titled Current Challenges in Architecture and Urbanism in Albania and COVID-19 (Forced) Innovations, published by Springer. She has published more than 15 articles in indexed academic journals and has delivered more than 29 presentations at scientific conferences. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anna Yunitsyna has served as Co-Chair and a member of the Editorial Board of two international scientific conferences, as well as a member of the Scientific Committee of five international scientific conferences. She is also a reviewer for the scientific journal Civil Engineering and Architecture.
Prof. Dr. Mersin Shena – Head of Natural Sciences Department Faculty of Engineering and Architecture
He completed his studies at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University of Tirana, where he qualified as a Physicist. He has a rich experience of over 40 years in teaching physics and in scientific research in public and private universities, where for over 20 years he has been in leadership positions, mainly in that of the head of the Department of Physics . In 1994, he defended the Doctor of Sciences degree in physics. He earned the title of Associate Professor in 2000, as well as that of Professor in 2006. There are many important publications of Prof. Shena in scientific journals at home and abroad, recognized with editorial boards, up to those with an impact factor, as well as references held at conferences. national and international. He has authored and co-authored ten university textbooks and a monograph, a good part of them published in the University Book Publishing House, as well as pre-university level didactic materials. He holds the Physics 1 and Physics 2 disciplines in the Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering study programs of the Faculty of Computer Science and IT.
Prof. Asoc. Dr. Roland Subashi – Head of Administrative Sciences Department Faculty of Economics
Graduated in Economics at “International University” in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Dr. Roland Subashi has a long career in the banking system and in the academic world. After completing his bachelor’s studies, he completed his master’s studies at the University of Tirana and Nebraska in the United States of America and then in 2015 he completed his doctorate at the University of Tirana. Dr. Subashi was part of the “International Trade Bank”, “Credit Bank of Albania”, “Veneto Bank” and “United Bank of Albania”. He also worked in the public administration, where he held the position of Deputy Director and Director of the Inspection Department in the General Directorate of Money Laundering Prevention as well as in the Ministry of Finance. Since 2008, he has been an external lecturer at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Tirana, while since September 2019 he is part of the Metropolitan University of Tirana, where he holds the position of Head of the Department of Administrative Sciences. He has conducted a series of trainings inside and outside the country, such as in Switzerland, Luxembourg, Austria, USA, France or Italy in the field of finance and technology.
Dr. Igli Hakrama– Head of Computer Engineering DepartmentFaculty of Coumputer Science and IT
Dr. Igli has long professional and academic experience in Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and economic process engineering aspects. He currently is the Head of the Innovation Center and the supervisor of AILab at UMT. His teaching activity has been focused on courses like Programming, Web, Applied AI and Software Engineering. His research focuses on Applied Artificial Intelligence in Information Systems, Data and Process Mining, agent-based modeling, and their application on economy. He holds a degree in Business Informatics from the University of Tirana and two master’s degrees, one in Computer Engineering and the other another in European Economic Studies, and a PhD with title “Intelligent Agent-based Economic Modeling”. He has been engaged in several startup initiatives and has been an active actor in the Albanian startup ecosystem from its early stages, where he has mentored and guided several startups from conception up to launching in the market on different levels.
Dr. Alfons Harizaj – Head of Electrical and Electronic Engineering DepartmentFaculty of Computer Science and IT
Dr. Alfons Harizaj is Head of Department of Electric Engineering at the University Metropolitan Tirana. He finalized PhD studies in 2017 at University of Tirana (Faculty of Natural Sciences) The experience and research are focused on engineering (application of numerical methods) and education (assessment and evaluation). He plays an active role through participation and contribution in EU projects under COST, CEEPUS, Erasmus +. His experience also includes member of numerous professional committees and research advisory boards.
Dr. Ada Spiru – Head of the Department of Finance and Banking Faculty of Economics
Ada Spiru holds a PhD in Economics and is currently Head of the Department of Finance at University Metropolitan Tirana. She obtained her PhD in Economics and Management from the University of Bari “Aldo Moro”, Italy. Following the completion of her doctoral studies, she served as an Adjunct Professor and subsequently as a Research Fellow for a five-year period at the University of Bari “Aldo Moro”, as well as a Visiting Research Fellow for six months at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Spain. She has extensive experience in teaching and academic research, with research interests spanning transport economics, sustainable mobility, market regulation, competition, firm innovation and performance, tourism, and public policy evaluation. Her research relies on quantitative methods, applied econometrics, and policy evaluation techniques. She is the author of publications in international scientific journals and actively participates in international conferences and research initiatives.
Dr. Ilir Sheraj– Head of the Department of Economic Informatics Faculty of Economics
