Dimitrios Kantemnidis is a graduate of the Hellenic Naval Academy and joined the Greek Navy in 2000. He serves as a naval officer in the Greek Navy (Lieutenant commander, OF-3) and holds a M.Sc. in Physics and a M.A. in Security Studies (Civil Military Relations) from the Naval Postgraduate School at Monterey of California, USA. He is currently undertaking his Ph.D. research on ‘Environmental Security and the EU’ at the University of the Aegean, Lesvos island, Greece in collaboration with the Doctoral School of the European Security and Defense College, Brussels. His research is focused on “how the EU-actors of the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP 2009), integrate the environmental security dimensions to ensure the union’s security needs.”
