French students, currently in their third year of studies in Computer Science and Software Engineering, will spend the next four months attending courses offered by the academic staff of the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology at UMT.
The selection of UMT by ESIEE Paris, one of the best French “Grande Écoles” with a five-year program, represents a significant step forward for the higher education system in Albania. It is also a testament to the trust placed in the Albanian university system. This experience will be a valuable multicultural academic formation for the French students.
Founded in 1904, ESIEE Paris quickly established itself as an engineering school closely tied to industry, with a strong focus on innovation and entrepreneurship. One of its most famous alumni is Marcel Dassault, the pioneer of the French aviation industry and a key figure in both military and business aviation. Another notable alumnus is Prof. Yann LeCun, the 2018 Turing Award winner for his groundbreaking contributions to the field of Artificial Intelligence. He currently leads Facebook’s AI research lab, where several of ESIEE Paris’s former students continue to contribute their expertise.
Since its founding, ESIEE Paris has been characterized by its close collaboration with industry, scientific innovation, and pedagogical excellence. Recently, the integration of ESIEE Paris into the University of Gustav Eiffel has brought a new dimension to the institution, further solidifying its position among the top two or three “Grande Écoles” in France that offer the five-year engineering program.
This collaborative experience between ESIEE Paris and UMT will be invaluable, especially for UMT. It will help UMT further understand the importance of student development, industry connections, pedagogical and scientific innovation, internationalization, and the structuring of scientific activities around the doctoral school in Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Systems goals that UMT has already set for itself. This positions UMT as a university that proudly fulfills its mission with distinction.
