Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Systems
Candidates enrolled in the doctoral program will have the opportunity to conduct their research activities with the support of colleagues from Université Gustave Eiffel, INSA Grenoble, École CentraleSupélec / CNRS, and University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
The program has a duration of three to four academic years. Candidates will be employed full-time at University Metropolitan Tirana, and the tuition fees will be fully covered by the research project for a period of three years.

The tuition fee is zero, and doctoral candidates receive a net scholarship of 800 euros per month.Funding and Doctoral Candidates’ Status
The program is supported by University Metropolitan Tirana , national and international funding programs, including the French Embassy in Tirana, as well as various mobility and academic cooperation initiatives.
The standard duration of doctoral studies is three years, during which doctoral candidates engage in intensive research activities at UMT and at international partner institutions. The program aims to prepare highly qualified researchers and professionals capable of contributing to the development of artificial intelligence and intelligent systems at the academic, industrial, and societal levels.

Application Criteria
Applicants must have completed higher education in the relevant field and hold a second-cycle degree, an integrated second-cycle degree, or a degree under the former “DIND” system.
A grade point average above 8 in both first- and second-cycle studies, with exceptions possible for special cases assessed by the relevant committees for awarding the academic degree “Doctor.”
Proof of proficiency in at least the English language at B2 level, in accordance with the applicable legislation.
Recommendations from individuals holding an academic title who are familiar with the candidate’s academic and professional abilities.
Demonstration and adherence to the highest scientific and ethical standards throughout the entire research period and beyond.
Application dossier
Applicants submit to the academic secretariat a file containing the following documents. All copies must be notarized where required.
- Full CV of the candidate
- Notarized copies of diplomas and transcripts (first, second, or integrated cycle). Foreign diplomas must be accompanied by recognition/validation from the Ministry of Education (MAS)
- Copy of ID card / passport
- Two (2) passport-size photographs
- Two recommendation letters from academic staff holding the title “Associate Professor” or “Professor”
- Proof of foreign language proficiency (notarized copy)
- Evidence of qualifications, trainings, scientific publications, or conference participation
- Employment certificate
- Self-declaration of compliance with scientific and ethical standards
