During the 2024-2025 academic year, the University Metropolitan Tirana has further strengthened international partnerships by welcoming 15 international students and sending 16 Albanian students to the most prestigious universities in Europe, thanks to the Erasmus+ program.
This increased mobility marks another step toward the internationalization of higher education in Albania, offering students the chance to study, work, and explore new cultures. For the Albanian students selected to study abroad, Erasmus+ is not just an academic experience but an opportunity to build an international network and benefit from advanced teaching methods. On the other hand, the 15 international students who have come to UMT have closely experienced the Albanian educational system, integrating into a dynamic and innovative university environment.

Partnerships with prestigious European universities
As part of its strategy for internationalizing education and expanding academic opportunities for students, the University Metropolitan Tirana has built a wide network of collaborations with some of the most prestigious universities in Europe.
These partnerships, implemented through the Erasmus+ program, allow UMT students to spend a semester or an academic year abroad, experiencing advanced teaching methods, high-level scientific research, and a stimulating international environment. At the same time, these agreements have opened doors for international students wishing to study in Albania, bringing to UMT a spirit of cultural and academic diversity that enriches the student experience and encourages knowledge exchange between different countries.
With a special focus on the quality of education and practical experience, UMT collaborates with renowned institutions for their expertise in various fields, including computer science, engineering, architecture, artificial intelligence, economics, and design.
These universities include: University of Bari, Aldo Moro, Italy; University of Padova, Italy; Lodz University, Poland; Craiova University, Romania; Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain; Masaryk University, Czech Republic; University of Oviedo, Spain; ESIEE Paris, France; University of Seville, Spain.
Through these collaborations, UMT students have the opportunity to experience new academic experiences, benefit from teaching by foreign professors, and create valuable connections for their future careers. Student mobility not only equips them with new knowledge but also helps
them develop intercultural skills, enhance their flexibility in an increasingly globalized job market, and become professionals prepared for future challenges.
For UMT, these partnerships are not just an opportunity for students but also a platform to enhance the university’s capabilities in scientific research and innovation. Through joint projects and academic exchanges, UMT aims to strengthen its role as a center for quality education in the region, fostering the development of an international and dynamic student community.
Esmeralda Doku: “Erasmus+ opens new doors for youth”
Regarding this achievement, the Director of the Office for External Relations and Communication, Mrs. Esmeralda Doku, emphasized the importance of this program for the academic and professional development of students:
“Erasmus+ is much more than an exchange program; it is an opportunity for students to test their skills in an international environment, develop a global mindset, and prepare for the job market with a broader approach. The University Metropolitan Tirana continues to expand its international partnerships, creating more and more opportunities for both Albanian and international students who choose UMT.”
In a world where interconnection and international experience are becoming increasingly important, UMT aims to further expand its agreements with other European universities, offering students the chance to explore different academic and cultural realities.
For young Albanians and international students aspiring to an international study experience, the University Metropolitan Tirana remains one of the best choices in the region, offering numerous opportunities through the Erasmus+ program and its extensive international partnerships.
