Nine students from CY Cergy Paris University, one of France’s most dynamic institutions, have arrived at University Metropolitan Tirana and their impact is already being felt.
They are not just visitors; they are innovators, collaborators, and learners who have brought with them the spirit of global partnership. Through internships and Erasmus studies, they are diving headfirst into Tirana’s academic life, bridging cultures and disciplines in meaningful ways.
Pioneers in Innovation: Interning at the Faculty of Computer Science & IT
Four of these students, Alif Ali Sekander, Carla Jullien, Romain Corral, and Rime Jaghnane El-Idrissi, are currently immersed in internships at the Faculty of Computer Science & IT. Their mission is far more than completing academic credits; they are co-creating knowledge.
Every day, they collaborate with PhD candidates and researchers on forward-thinking projects that tackle real-world technological challenges. From AI applications to software development, their contributions are helping to push the boundaries of innovation at UMT. This hands-on experience is enhancing their technical skills, exposing them to advanced research methods, and preparing them for careers in an increasingly interconnected tech-driven world.
Exploring Diverse Academic Paths Through Erasmus Mobility
While the interns are deep in the world of algorithms and code, five of their peers have chosen a different path, one rooted in academic exploration across diverse faculties.
Maelann Langevin, studying at the Faculty of Economics, is delving into financial systems and economic theory, gaining insights that bridge textbook knowledge with Albania’s evolving economic landscape.
Siham Daanouni, enrolled in a Bachelor’s in Artificial Intelligence, is enhancing her understanding of AI at the Faculty of Computer Science & IT, where she works alongside Albanian and international students alike.
Meanwhile, Redah Dahmani, Matteo de Mil, and Eliott Tocque have become an integral part of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture. There, they are taking part in creative, hands-on design projects, some inspired by Tirana’s own urban transformation. For them, the blend of theory and practical application has made for a rich and stimulating academic experience.
Each student brings a piece of CY Cergy Paris University to Tirana, enriching UMT with fresh ideas and diverse perspectives.
A Shared Spirit of Learning and Discovery
What binds these nine students together is more than their French background, it’s their shared commitment to international learning and cross-cultural understanding. Whether they’re drafting
blueprints, analyzing markets, or developing new software, they are fully engaged in a learning journey that transcends borders.
Their time at UMT is also about cultural discovery, exploring Tirana’s vibrant streets, tasting traditional Albanian cuisine, learning the language, and forming friendships that will last a lifetime. It’s a two-way exchange where both institutions grow: UMT becomes more international, and CY Cergy Paris University expands its reach through the success of its students abroad.
