University Metropolitan Tirana, in collaboration with the Center for Openness and Dialogue (COD) and the National Youth Agency (AKR), has officially launched the second edition of the RoboTech Competition. This event serves as a unique platform for young individuals to explore and develop their skills in robotics and artificial intelligence.
The opening ceremony took place at COD’s premises, bringing together key stakeholders from innovation, education, media, and public institutions. Distinguished attendees included:
- Jetona Koçibelli – Director of COD
- Geron Ibrahimi – Head of AKR
- Arjan Ymeri – Director of the Startup Albania Agency
- Ing. Arjan Çukaj – President of University Metropolitan Tirana
During their speeches, the attendees emphasized the importance of fostering innovation among young people and supporting new talent in the technology sector.
Through such initiatives, COD aims to empower young individuals to become leaders in the technology field, creating opportunities for sustainable development on both a national and global scale. “I hope each of you will have the time, tools, and creativity to express your talent,” stated COD Director Jetona Koçibelli.
The President of UMT, Ing. Arjan Çukaj, highlighted that competitions like RoboTech align with the university’s vision, introducing new advancements every year. “The university itself is built upon exact sciences, engineering, and software and computer sciences. We see many high school students with talent, but they don’t realize how capable they are until they test themselves in fields like robotics,” Çukaj stated.
What does RoboTech 2025 bring?
To present the objectives and structure of the competition, Dr. Elton Domnori and PhD(c) Evis Plaku provided a detailed overview of the competition’s phases, including:
- The main stages and rules of the competition
- The technological challenges participants will face
- The opportunities this platform offers to students passionate about technology
This new edition of RoboTech will introduce more advanced challenges and create a space where young participants can experiment with the latest technologies in robotics and AI.
RoboTech 2025 promises a challenging edition full of opportunities for young individuals eager to explore the world of technology and innovation. Applications for this year’s competition have closed with a record number of participants. The selection process is currently in its final stages, and the chosen teams will be announced in the coming days.
Young innovators at the center
One of the most significant moments of the event was the sharing of experiences by past winners and participants. Nigel Xherimeja, Gledi Taçe, Blevis Allushi, and Sara Kola shared their journeys in RoboTech and how the competition opened new career doors.
University Metropolitan Tirana, which specializes in computer science, artificial intelligence, architecture, engineering, and economics, offers students 25 bachelor’s and master’s degree programs. It is also the only Albanian university that has established a PhD school in Artificial Intelligence.
RoboTech 2025 is set to be an even more challenging and innovative edition, providing extraordinary opportunities for young individuals passionate about technology and innovation.
A record-breaking 70 teams from various high schools across Albania have applied for this year’s edition, involving more than 250 senior students passionate about technology and innovation. This overwhelming interest reflects the eagerness of Albanian youth to explore their potential in robotics and artificial intelligence. However, only 25 teams will be selected to compete, with the final selection process currently being conducted by a panel of professors from the University Metropolitan Tirana. The participating teams will be announced in the coming days.
