The Albanian Team Represents Albania at the International Economics Olympiad 2025

The Albanian team successfully participated in the International Economics Olympiad 2025 (IEO) held in Baku, Azerbaijan, proudly representing Albania in one of the most prestigious international competitions in the field of economics for high school students.

For the first time, thanks to the organization and support of University Metropolitan Tirana, the physical participation of the Albanian team in this global event was made possible, bringing together talented young minds from over 50 countries in the fields of economics, finance, and entrepreneurship.

Achievements of the Albanian Team

In this edition, the Albanian team achieved highly regarded results at the international level:

  • Daron Zymeri and Raitin Kola ranked very close to the individual medal line;
  • The Albanian team was positioned among the Top 20 teams worldwide in the Business Case category (18th place);
  • A successful initiative was undertaken to advocate for the online participation of students holding Kosovar passports in countries where this document is not yet officially recognized.

University Metropolitan Tirana congratulates the students Raitin Kola, Daron Zymeri, Bora Bajraktari, Anabel Dervishi, and Sara Lloshi for their distinguished representation of Albania and for the high level of academic preparation and teamwork demonstrated throughout the competition.

Special recognition also goes to Marius Gjinali, the Albanian participant competing for Canada, who was awarded a gold medal, further strengthening the presence of Albanian excellence in this international event.

For the third consecutive year, PhD (c) Klevisa Kapo, lecturer and representative of University Metropolitan Tirana, served as the Team Leader of Albania at IEO.
The recognition given by the international organizers for her leadership and commitment represents yet another testament to UMT’s contribution in supporting academic excellence and promoting Albania’s dignified presence in the global academic arena.
