Doctoral Studies in Artificial Intelligence algorithms for the early detection of breast cancer

Anxhelo Shehu received a PhD scholarship supported by the University Metropolitan Tirana. The scientific research will be led by Prof. Dr. Ligor Nikolla (UMT) and Oncologist Dr. Kleidia Mati (Salus Hospital) for the Albanian side and from Prof. René Natowicz and Prof. Dr. Arben Çela (ESIEE Paris-Université Gustave Eiffel) for the French side.

His scientific research will be developed in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in medicine and more precisely in the development and validation of AI algorithms for the early detection of Breast Cancer. Here, taking into account the impact that the development of such algorithms would have on the significant improvement of the medical system, especially for developing countries. These topics are of high interest, where even research centers around the world are oriented.

Anxhelo Shehu, after completing his bachelor’s and master’s studies in Mathematical Engineering, has joined the Metropolitan University of Tirana as a full-time staff.

Through doctoral studies, UMT aims to take important steps towards creating an eco-system of intelligent systems in the country. The Metropolitan University of Tirana will support the completion of doctoral studies, not only with a zero registration fee, but with the construction of a quality methodology for increasing capacities, developing professorships and internationalizing scientific research.
