Applications for this year’s edition of the RoboTech competition have officially closed, marking record-breaking participation. Over 70 teams from various high schools across Albania have applied to be part of this competition, including more than 250 seniors passionate about technology and innovation. This high interest demonstrates that young Albanians are eager to explore their potential in robotics and artificial intelligence. However, only 30 teams will advance in this edition, with the selection process currently being finalized by a panel of professors from Metropolitan University Tirana. The selected teams will be announced in the coming days.
A Competition with a Broad Focus
University Metropolitan Tirana, in collaboration with COD – Center for Openness and Dialogue, the Prime Minister’s Office, the National Youth Agency, and MetroResearch, has introduced this significant competition to over 1,500 high school seniors in various cities, including Tirana, Shkodra, Korça, Elbasan, Fier, Berat, Vlora, Durres, and Gjirokastra. In each city, students have been introduced to the opportunities this competition offers, providing them with a new perspective on technology and innovation.
Through this competition, young participants will have the chance to develop their technological skills, creativity, and problem-solving abilities, preparing them for future challenges. Metropolitan University Tirana aims to create an educational and inspiring platform that fosters a new generation of innovators ready to contribute to Albania’s technological development and beyond.
RoboTech is an initiative of University Metropolitan Tirana that combines technology and innovation with real-world challenges by:

Creating a collaborative ecosystem between education, industry, and government.
The competition covers a wide range of technological applications, including environmental projects such as waste management and water conservation. Students will also explore fields such as smart agriculture, renewable energy, automated manufacturing, and digital healthcare. This approach offers students a broad perspective on how technology can impact Albania’s economy and drive positive societal change.
Training Phase and the Road to the Finals
From February to April, the selected teams will receive training and support from field experts. They will develop prototypes using robotics and artificial intelligence technology to address environmental challenges. Teams will have access to essential resources and tools, while mentors and university professors will guide them throughout the process. This experience will provide young participants with a unique learning journey, where they will tackle real-world challenges and create innovative solutions.
In April, teams will present their final projects at a national event. A jury will evaluate their work based on innovation, environmental impact, technical execution, and teamwork. Winners will be announced in various categories, such as “Best Innovation” and “Most Impactful Environmental Solution,” recognizing their contributions to advancing technology and innovation.
Beyond the awards, winners will have the opportunity to promote their ideas and participate in major technological projects in the future. Through this competition, Metropolitan University Tirana and its partners are laying the foundation for a future where technology and creativity serve sustainable development and social progress.
