Dr. Nikolla Nika – Head of Civil Engineering Department Faculty of Engineering and Architecture
Graduated in Civil Engineering at the University of Tirana, Dr. Nicholas Nika has a long experience in the field of industrial civil construction and in the academic world. He completed his studies in Electrical Engineering at the University of Tirana, while in 1997 he completed his specialization at the Polytechnic University of Athens on concrete and iron adhesion problems. Professor Nikola Nika has worked for a long time at the Polytechnic University of Tirana, where he has lectured and given seminars in the fields of material resistance, theoretical mechanics, resilience theory, theory of modeling of building structures, etc.He has done many studies in the field of structure optimization, experimentation, tensometry, photo elasticity and space structures, while working as a freelance engineer contributing his expertise to many important projects.
Dr. Ernest Shtepani – Head of Architecture Department Faculty of Engineering and Architecture
Dr. Ernest Shtepani is an architect and lecturer at Tirana Metropolitan University. After finishing his studies in Tirana, he followed the master’s studies at the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in Dessau in Germany, where he specialized in Architecture, Architectural Theory, Urban Design and Spatial Planning. He completed his PhD studies at the Czech Technical University in Prague. Dr. Shtepani has worked as an architect, as an urban planning expert at the Ministry of Urban Development and as a lecturer at several universities in the country. Since 2019, he has been part of UMT where he lectures in the subjects of architecture, urban planning, urban design and architectural theory. He has participated in several international conferences and seminars and is the author of five academic scientific papers in the field of architecture.
Prof. Dr. Mersin Shena – Head of Natural Sciences Department Faculty of Engineering and Architecture
He completed his studies at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University of Tirana, where he qualified as a Physicist. He has a rich experience of over 40 years in teaching physics and in scientific research in public and private universities, where for over 20 years he has been in leadership positions, mainly in that of the head of the Department of Physics . In 1994, he defended the Doctor of Sciences degree in physics. He earned the title of Associate Professor in 2000, as well as that of Professor in 2006. There are many important publications of Prof. Shena in scientific journals at home and abroad, recognized with editorial boards, up to those with an impact factor, as well as references held at conferences. national and international. He has authored and co-authored ten university textbooks and a monograph, a good part of them published in the University Book Publishing House, as well as pre-university level didactic materials. He holds the Physics 1 and Physics 2 disciplines in the Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering study programs of the Faculty of Computer Science and IT.
Dr. Ndriçim Topalli – Head of Economic Informatics Department Faculty of Economics
Ndricim Topalli is a Software Engineer and a Lecturer with 5 years of work experience in the international pharmaceutical and software company PARAXEL, Nottingham, England and 8 years of experience as a Lecturer in the field of IT in Albanian and English. Ndricim currently works as a Lecturer at the Metropolitan University of Tirana. He has completed a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degrees in “Computer Science and Software Engineering” from the University of Birmingham, England. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Object Recognition and Data Protection, Computer Science at the University of Reading, England. The research areas of interest are: Artificial Intelligence, Database Management Systems, Implementation and Management of Information Systems, Data Science and Business Analytics.
Prof. Asoc. Sopot Cama – Head of the Department of Finance and Banking Faculty of Economics
Assoc. Prof. Sopot Cama is the Head of the Department of Finance and Banking at University Metropolitan Tirana and one of the most experienced academics in the field of economics in higher education. He holds the academic titles “Doctor of Economic Sciences” and “Associate Professor,” awarded by the University of Tirana. From 1970 to 1997, Prof. Cama was part of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Tirana, where he served as a lecturer, Head of Chair, and Head of the Department of Economics, while also contributing to the restructuring and development of the Faculty of Economics. During the period 2014–2019, he served as Dean of the Faculty of Economics at University Metropolitan Tirana, contributing significantly to the academic and institutional development of the faculty. Professor Cama has also been involved in international projects, including IFDC, a project supported by the United States Government for agribusiness development, and has completed professional training at the Instituto Commercio Estero in Rome and Bari, Italy.
Dr. Roland Subashi – Head of Administrative Sciences Department Faculty of Economics
Graduated in Economics at “International University” in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Dr. Roland Subashi has a long career in the banking system and in the academic world. After completing his bachelor’s studies, he completed his master’s studies at the University of Tirana and Nebraska in the United States of America and then in 2015 he completed his doctorate at the University of Tirana. Dr. Subashi was part of the “International Trade Bank”, “Credit Bank of Albania”, “Veneto Bank” and “United Bank of Albania”. He also worked in the public administration, where he held the position of Deputy Director and Director of the Inspection Department in the General Directorate of Money Laundering Prevention as well as in the Ministry of Finance. Since 2008, he has been an external lecturer at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Tirana, while since September 2019 he is part of the Metropolitan University of Tirana, where he holds the position of Head of the Department of Administrative Sciences. He has conducted a series of trainings inside and outside the country, such as in Switzerland, Luxembourg, Austria, USA, France or Italy in the field of finance and technology.
Dr. Elton Domnori – Head of Computer Engineering DepartmentFaculty of Coumputer Science and IT
Dr. Elton Domnori completed his higher studies at the Università degli Studi di Modena in Reggio Emilia, Italy. In 2012, he completed his doctoral studies in Computer Engineering and Science. After an experience as a software developer at Kion/CINECA, Dr. Since 2012, Domnori has worked as a lecturer at various universities in Albania. Recently holds the position of deputy. Dean at the Faculty of Computer Science and IT, University Metropolitan Tirana . The main areas of work and research are the optimization of programming languages, data management systems and distributed systems.
Dr. Alfons Harizaj – Head of Electrical and Electronic Engineering DepartmentFaculty of Computer Science and IT
Dr. Alfons Harizaj is Head of Department of Electric Engineering at the University Metropolitan Tirana. He finalized PhD studies in 2017 at University of Tirana (Faculty of Natural Sciences) The experience and research are focused on engineering (application of numerical methods) and education (assessment and evaluation). He plays an active role through participation and contribution in EU projects under COST, CEEPUS, Erasmus +. His experience also includes member of numerous professional committees and research advisory boards.
