IEEE CoNTESA ’24: The Two-Day Conference that United Technology and Scientific Research at the University Metropolitan Tirana

For two consecutive days in 2024, the University Metropolitan Tirana hosted the international two-day conference IEEE CoNTESA ’24, which gathered researchers, academics, and professionals worldwide to share the latest developments in technology, telecommunications, and engineering. The conference represented a rich platform for innovative discussions and academic exchanges, reaffirming UMT’s leading role in engineering and technological programs.

The conference began with an opening ceremony, where representatives from the Metropolitan University Tirana and the conference chair, Dr. Maaruf Ali, welcomed the participants. Dr. Ali presented the key statistics of the conference, highlighting its international scope and the participation of scholars from prestigious universities. He also emphasized the importance of IEEE CoNTESA ’24 as a meeting point for researchers from various disciplines.

“IEEE CoNTESA is more than a conference – it is an opportunity to build bridges of collaboration between academia, industry, and society. This event aims to bring attention to practical solutions that directly impact our world’s sustainable future,” he stated, among other things.

The keynote lecture of the day was delivered by Prof. Hoa Le Minh, a renowned authority on optical communications from Northumbria University in the United Kingdom. He shared his perspectives on the impact of optical technologies in enhancing global communication systems, inspiring participants with his vision for the future.

Presentations covered topics such as risk management in penetration methodologies and empowering startups through hybrid simulations, emphasizing the transformative role of universities in this process.

Meanwhile, the second day continued with sessions on computer science and information technology, where presentations highlighted the practical applications of artificial intelligence and advanced algorithms in various fields. Discussions included the use of artificial intelligence in oncology, the impact of 5G technology, and advanced techniques for improving cancer diagnoses through deep learning.

Participants emphasized the importance of algorithms like Seam Carving to increase accuracy in diagnoses based on medical imaging, as well as the role of advanced technologies in optimizing neural networks for practical applications.

In his closing remarks, Dr. Maaruf Ali thanked all participants for their engagement and dedication, emphasizing that IEEE CoNTESA ’24 was an unparalleled platform for knowledge exchange and the fostering of international collaborations.

IEEE CoNTESA ’24 not only promoted scientific research but also set a new standard for academic events in Albania.
