University Metropolitan Tirana represents Albanian Higher Education at the Franco-Albanian Week dedicated to Artificial Intelligence

University Metropolitan Tirana (UMT) has proudly represented the Albanian academic community at the Franco-Albanian Week dedicated to Artificial Intelligence, demonstrating its commitment to advancing higher education and technology in Albania.

As part of this significant event, a plenary session was organized at the Prime Minister’s Office, where the “Franco-Albanian Digital Roadmap” was presented through three major projects focused on Artificial Intelligence and Green AI. This event brought together key government and diplomatic figures, including Prime Minister Edi Rama, Minister of Economy, Culture, and Innovation Blendi Gonxhe, Minister of Local Government Arbjan Mazniku, the French Ambassador to Albania Catherine Suard, as well as representatives from the industry and academia.

UMT, as the first university in Albania to establish a Doctoral School in Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Systems, and offering Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs in this field, played a pivotal role in this event. Present at the event were UMT President Ing. Arjan Çukaj and UMT Administrator Donika Plakolli, who emphasized the importance of international collaborations in strengthening the role of Albanian higher education on the global stage.

Collaboration with France – A strategic opportunity for Albania’s technological development

UMT has built an extensive network of partnerships with prestigious international institutions, collaborating with elite universities and research centers such as Centrale Supelec, UPEC/LISSI, ESIEE, UGA in France, and the University of Tennessee Chattanooga in the USA. These partnerships have contributed to the development of UMT’s academic and research capacities, positioning it as a key player in AI research and innovation in Albania and the region.

One of the main objectives of this collaboration is also to support the Albanian Government and public institutions in implementing AI-based and Intelligent Systems solutions. This commitment reflects UMT’s vision of transforming Albania into a regional center of excellence in technology and innovation.

University Metropolitan Tirana’s participation in this significant event marks another step forward in strengthening the country’s technological and academic ecosystem, fostering collaboration with key international stakeholders.
