Prof. As. Dr. Emre Çeçen is a civil engineer specialized in geotechnical engineering. He received his PhD, MSc, and BSc in Istanbul Technical University, Turkey. He has worked in academia for more 25 years. Prof. As. Dr. Emre Çeçen has occupied several positions as assistant professor, head of department, head of civil engineering laboratories, and dean of faculty of engineering and architecture. He set up three distinct labs, one for soil and rock mechanics, one for civil engineering materials with asphalt, aggregate, and concrete, and one for structural engineering, all of which were outfitted with the newest testing apparatuses. Apart from this, he also participated in the processes of quality assurance and control in these labs. In addition to his academic work, he has provided geotechnical and geo-environmental consulting services to more than 150 governmental and private sector organizations of national and international nature. His fields of expertise include geotechnical investigation at all levels, soil improvement, sand/stone columns, jet-grout, deep and shallow foundations and shoring works, slope stability, soil-structure interaction, tunnel induced soil movements, etc. He has attended various international teaching engagements within the framework of Erasmus programs.
