Alumni Awards 2024

With much excitement and in a festive atmosphere, this year’s edition of the “Alumni Awards” took place, the annual event of the Metropolitan University of Tirana honoring successful alumni in their professions.

Vice Rector of UMT, Dr. Nick Frydas, presented the latest data indicating that 75% of graduates are employed in full accordance with their study profiles.

“This activity has now become a yearly tradition where we witness how yesterday’s graduates return as our colleagues. The above figures are the clearest evidence that all the work we have done over the years in designing study programs in close collaboration with businesses and state institutions is heading in the right direction,” expressed Dr. Nick Frydas.

With over 1,800 graduates in engineering, architecture, computer science, and economics, UMT has established itself as an elite institution for student formation in scientific profiles through its study programs.

The young graduates themselves valued their study period at UMT and its impact on their careers:

“I want to thank UMT for providing me with exceptional opportunities during my years of study, and now with graduation, I hope to represent the university in the most dignified manner,” said tha Eliada Ballazhi.

In an environment with distinguished personalities from academia and beyond, alumni, collaborators, and past UMT graduates, Slovenian Ambassador Peter Japelj praised the role of Metropolitan University and the establishment of the Alumni network as an innovation in Albania. He was honored by UMT with the “Peace and Social Responsibility Award.”

President of  University Metropolitan Tirana, Arjan Çukaj, expressed gratitude to the graduates over the years, who he believes are the best ambassadors of the university. Ing. Çukaj emphasized that UMT is a leading institution in artificial intelligence.

“With hundreds of economists, engineers, architects, and professionals contributing today to successful companies and important institutions, this is the greatest satisfaction we receive today. We have opened new programs and are the only ones who have developed rare expertise in the field of artificial intelligence across three study cycles,” saidÇukaj.

The Excellence Award was won by Patrik Bardhi, the Distinguished Alumni Award by Eliada Ballazhi, the Career Award by Matildo Gjata, the Contribution Award by Dorina Allamani, the UMT Peace and Social Responsibility Award by Slovenian Ambassador to Albania Peter Japelj, and the My Professor Award by Dr. Elton Domnori.
