Third Cycle Doctoral Program

“Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Systems”

The third cycle doctoral program in “Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Systems” is offered at Tirana Metropolitan University by the Faculty of Computer and IT Sciences.

Candidates who will follow the doctoral study program will have the opportunity to develop their research activity with the support of colleagues from Gustav Eiffel University (Paris, France), Institut National de Sciences Appliquées (Grenoble, France), Ecole Centrale – Supelec/ CNRS (France), University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. The program has a duration of three to four academic years.

The number of quotas for this study program is 5 (five) candidates. Candidates are employed full-time at Tirana Metropolitan University. The study fee will be fully covered by the research project for a period of three years.

Objectives of the doctoral study program

 

  • This doctoral program aims to deepen and qualify students in the field of information technology and in particular in that of intelligent systems in theoretical, experimental and practical aspects.
  • The doctoral study is based on scientific research and independent creative activity, as a basis for the preparation of the doctoral thesis (dissertation), necessary for obtaining the scientific degree “Doctor” and related to research projects of this basic unit.
  • The study of this doctorate is built on individual programs for independent training of candidates in scientific research, in the fields/subfields determined by the basic unit. An important aspect of the study of this doctorate is the ethical aspect of the scientific study, which is related not only to the field of study, Artificial Intelligence, but also to that of respect for authorship.

 

Documentation required for application

The applicant to follow this study program must make a written request, which is included in his personal file, which will be deposited in the teaching secretariat and contains the following documents:

  • CV; notarized copies of the second cycle diplomas (MSH, DND, DIND, 5-year diploma), accompanied by the diploma supplements or the list of grades with the relevant (original) credits. Diplomas obtained abroad must be accompanied by proof of recognition/equivalence from the ministry responsible for education; notarized copies of third-cycle “Executive Master’s” diplomas, specialization diplomas, or diplomas equivalent to them, accompanied by the list of grades (original) or the diploma supplement, if the candidate has such;
  • photocopy of identity card/passport;
  • 2 (two) photographs;
  • two recommendations from the academic staff with the title “Associate Professor” or “Professor”;
  • proof of foreign language (notarized photocopy);
  • evidence and certifications related to qualifications, training, or scientific articles that may have been carried out, or participation in scientific conferences, if any;
  • certification from the work center;
  • applicant’s self-declaration that he will apply scientific and ethical standards.
