On
December 20, 2014, the International Conference in the field of economics was
held on the topic "Challenges of Sustainable Development".
The
conference, organized by the Metropolitan University of Tirana, was attended by
economic experts in Albania such as former Finance Minister ArbenMalaj,
world-renowned personalities in the field of economics and engineering such as
Professor Sergio Barile from the University "La Sapienza" in Rome,
Vice President "Engineers' Order in Rome" Manuel Casalboni and many
others. Through this conference, the aim was to stimulate debate on appropriate
models of economic development.
A new model of development oriented towards
tradition, territory, technological innovation and research was promoted. In
today's economy, considerable importance is given to the aspect of
competitiveness, necessarily requiring increased efficiency, but respect for
the environment cannot and should not be overlooked and misused in the
competition of competitors to reduce costs at all costs. At the same time, the
new development model supports the competitiveness and value of human capital,
economic growth, respect for the environment and human rights, legal security,
productivity and social harmony.
During this activity, experts stressed the
importance of sustainable development by mentioning the factors that make this
possible. In his speech, the rector of the Metropolitan Tirana University,
Prof. Dr. GëzimKarapici expressed consideration for the works presented by the
academic staff and experts of this university in the field of engineering,
architecture, economics and information technology.
On the other hand,
Professor Arben Malaj praised the initiatives of the Metropolitan Tirana
University. "Metropolitan faces a not easy challenge, but I would consider
it a noble challenge to influence as a team to modernize your university
curricula. Young people should not be afraid of the current crisis; they should
not consider themselves a generation lost. It is their education and the desire
to work that enables the progress of a country ", claimed Malaj.
